Ahhhh... coffee. That cup of morning glory that so many of us covet. And how many have established rituals associated with that first delectable sip of hot coffee? Coffee makers are set to brew the night before. Coffee beans are imported from specific international sources. For some, the day simply doesn’t start until a Starbucks coffee is in hand.

No doubt, you’ve also read or heard about how coffee is bad for you – and good for you. What about coffee or caffeine addictions? Different sources and research run the gamete on whether or not coffee addictions are even possible. A popular beverage and a hot topic... Following are more stimulating facts about this second most consumed beverage in the world.

Coffee Addiction – Interest in “Coffee Tables” Far Surpasses Concerns

One might assume that “coffee addiction” would be a popular search term in online queries. Aren’t people worried about that mid-morning headache when they haven’t had their first cup of coffee? Apparently not. Powerful new research recently analyzed millions of pieces of data on searches related to coffee. Why? Well, to provide some fascinating reading material while you sip your java, of course!

The most frequently searched term that came up in this study was “coffee table”, with an incredible 1.7 million searches over a one-year period (see Graph 1 below). “Coffee maker”, at second, is less surprising, but the frequency of variations on the top phrases “coffee tables” and “coffee makers” reiterate the popularity of these two terms.

Which is the Best Coffee Shop?

Now, here is a question that weighs heavily on the minds of coffee drinkers everywhere – which is the best coffee shop? This is evidenced by the ranking of “coffee shop” in 5th place, with close to one million annual searches, The terms that follow all seem to “support the habit” – “coffee beans”, “coffee pot”, “coffee mugs” and “hot coffee”. Graph 2 tallies the single word occurrences, and reveals that the term “coffee” is searched over 26 million times each year, that’s over 72,000 queries each day!
