Alcoholism Cure - Does it Exist?

Over a one-year period, nearly 9,000 online visitors posed some form of the question: Is there a magical alcoholism cure? Sadly, the answer is no; however, ongoing addictions research continues to enhance treatment programs that encourage sobriety and ultimately attempt to give alcoholics their life back.

In the meantime, a brand new form of research looks at the topic of “alcoholism cure” online. The results tell of expectations, current knowledge, and levels of interest in this important subject of alcohol/drug abuse.

Alcohol Addiction Recovery - Realistic Expectations

Powerful technology reveals that people seem to be realistic about their expectations for addiction treatment. While 8,778 specific queries were registered for “alcoholism cure” in this study (see Graph 4), far more requests were registered for alcohol “addiction recovery” (32,227/year) and “addiction treatment” (30,545) (see Graph 1 below).

While some searches are focused on information about alcohol detox symptoms, detox medication and drug abuse, many others are concerned with locating a detox center/detox centers, addiction counseling (note the spelling) and addiction therapy.

Alcohol Detox Program - Numbers are Staggering

Whether it's inquiries about an alcoholism cure or an alcohol detox program, the search frequencies are staggering. In fact, among all related terms studied, the word “alcohol” appears over five million times (see Graph 3). This is followed by “drug” (447,418), “abuse” (347,330), “treatment” (320,261), and “detox” (266,539). These statistics reveal the scope of this study (hundreds of thousands of phrases were analyzed), as well as the prevalence of this troubling societal issue.
