Alcohol Treatment Programs
You begin to see the importance of
our individualized drug and alcohol treatment programs when you consider the numerous differences that characterize a patient's addiction to alcohol. Quantity, frequency and the reason for drinking are some of the simpler ones. There are also considerable variations in genetic predisposition to addiction and treatment response.
When you add in age, culture, gender, other possible addictions and varying degrees of mental disorders, themselves side-effects of addiction
it's clear why holistic and individualized alcohol assessment and treatment programs like ours may be the only way to succeed.
Treatment program for alcohol abuse Alcohol abusers drink despite persistent social, interpersonal and legal problems that result, yet the condition is not severe enough to be classified as alcohol dependant. If you or your loved one is an alcohol abuser, it may not require long-term alcohol rehabilitation to begin a new path in life.
Intervention at this stage is important to prevent the onset of alcoholism. The sooner the better!
Attitudinal changes through education regarding the dangers of alcoholism, binge drinking and alcohol poisoning are a fundamental part of the rehabilitation program. An interesting and influential aspect of this education is the direct contact alcohol abusers have with the more hard core cases - confronting their possible fate is a powerful deterrent.
Treatment program for alcoholism Alcoholism, or alcohol addiction, has all the signs of alcohol abuse plus additional symptoms such as drink-seeking behavior and others. Alcohol addiction has, as a rule of thumb, four major symptoms:
- Craving--A strong sensation of the need and/or compulsion to consume alcohol.
- Impaired Control--the lack of ability to control the amount of alcohol consumed on any given occasion.
- Physical Dependence---symptoms of withdrawing from alcohol, such as sweating, nausea, shakiness, and a sense of anxiety when the use of alcohol is stopped after a period of prolonged, heavy alcohol use.
- Tolerance-the need of consuming larger amounts of larger in order to feel the effects of alcohol intoxication.
