Signs of Ambien addiction and abuse

Common signs and side effects of Ambien use

Ambien has a number of common recognizable side effects, including:

  • Daytime drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheadedness
  • Difficulty with coordination
  • Tolerance
  • Dependence
  • Changing in thinking and/or behavior
As Ambien use progresses into abuse and finally Ambien addiction these signs and symptoms likewise become progressively more severe. Addiction, or dependence, can be caused when used regularly for longer than a few weeks or at high doses. People who have been dependent on alcohol or other drugs in the past may have a greater chance of becoming addicted to Ambien.

Ambien addiction treatment programs

Ambien is a highly addictive prescription drug. Recovery and rehabilitation from Ambien addiction may require a treatment program ranging from certified addiction counseling to treatment at a residential alcohol and drug rehab center, depending on the extent of the addiction and a number of other factors.
